Siddharth’s 180 to release on June 25th!

Siddharth’s upcoming bi-lingual movie titled "180" is gearing up to release on June 25th. The movie post production works are going on presently. Nitya Menon and Priya Anand are playing the female lead roles in the film. Earlier it was stated to release on June 10th but due to Badrinath releasing on June 10th the movie release date has been postponed to June 25th.

The film is releasing in both Telugu and Tamil languages with the same title on the same day. The film was shot separately in both Tamil and Telugu languages. Most of the film was shot in USA. The movie audio was released in both the languages.

The movie directed by ad film maker Jayendran, he is also friend and Guru for hero Siddharth.SPI cinemas and Aghal films are jointly producing this film. Malayalam music director Sharreth composed music for the film. Balasubramaniam handles the camera and Vanamali has penned the lyrics.

180 has Tanikella Bharani, Geetha, and M S Narayana in other lead roles.

Chiru heroine says no to Charan

Yester year heroine meena was one of the prefect pair besides Chiranjeevi. Although the jodi is not much popular, now there is a strong gossip making rounds in Film Nagar about meena joining the film of Ramcharan in direction of VV Vinayak that will start some time in August. Apparently Samanta is confirmed as heroine as meena needs to play the mother-in-law to Cherry and mum to Sam.

Rajasekhar injured in Mahankali shooting

Actor dr rajasekhar sustained injuries during shooting for his new film ‘Mahankali’ on the set locales on the outskirts of Chennai on Monday. The actor was immediately rushed to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai where the doctors treating stated that the condition of actor was out of danger, according to reports reaching here.

The doctors said that dr rajasekhar suffered minor injuries on right hand, right eye and right ear. “There is no cause for concern about his health. He has been advised to take rest for 20 days,” the doctors said. According to sources, dr rajasekhar suffered injuries during the shooting of climax scenes at Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai.

The film is jointly produced by Eluru Surender Reddy and Paramdhama Reddy and directed by Rajasekhar’s wife and actress Jeevitha. According to sources, the story of the film is about a police officer ‘Mahankali’ who wants to get Hyderabad ridden of rowdyism. The plot revolves around his attempts to realise this objective and is based on real life incidents. Madhurima is playing the lead opposite dr rajasekhar while Vinod Kumar, Satya Prakash, Raghu, Jeeva and Suthivelu are playing other supporting roles. Music is composed by Chinna.

Rajasekhar injured in Shooting!

Actor Rajasekhar got injured on today (May 30th, 2011) during the shooting of his new film "Mahankali" in Chennai. The actor has been shifted to Apolo hospital in Chennai. The doctors who are treating him said that he is safe and nothing to be worried.

As per the reports Rajasekhar had injuries on his right hand, right eye and right ear. Doctors confirmed that it’s not so major injuries and nothing to panic .Doctors has been advised to take rest for 20 days. As per sources, Jeevitha, who is the wife of Rajasekhar, went into shock after this sudden accident.

Presently the shooting is going on at kilpauk medical college in Chennai; there the unit canning the climax scenes. Rajasekhar is acting in a powerful Police officer role in this flick. Madhurima is playing the female lead role in this film.

When every body wants Mahesh Babu to get out from the influence of ‘Pokiri’, he seems to have still struck deep into that mania. Post ‘Pokiri’ continuous failures should have made him learn new lessons. Unfortunately that is not the case and first teaser of ‘Dookudu’ released into the market yesterday shows the punch dialogue of Mahesh as ‘Mind Lo Fix Ayithe Blind Gaa Yelli Pothaa.’

Given the kind of attention a film from Prince usually attracts, it is time for Super Star to take enough care in living up to their expectations. ‘Dookudu’ being known as a cop story and with punches looking similar to ‘Pokiri,’ obviously Fans are coming under extra tension as why is Mahesh doing this again and again? What is that great logic that made Mahesh to fix his mind and become blind in accepting these kinds of dialogues which have lost the fad in public? Wish that ‘Dookudu’ is not the same run of mill old story lines.

Finally, it is confirmed as a hit

There were mixed reviews for the film early on during the release time. Later on many big movies entered into the competition for ‘prema kavali’ and the Cricket World Cup haven’t really bothered it. Including with ‘Ala Modalaindi,’ this ‘prema kavali’ is declared a silent hit of year till now. Completing 100 days in 23 centers, Vijay Bhaskar’s direction, Aadi’s ease in performance and heroine Isha Chawla’s hot looks combinely helped the film to have a long standing.  

Film sources who spoke very less about ‘prema kavali’ till last two weeks are now agreeing that film has done a decent job at BO by maintaining steady collections throughout. Well, it is paradoxical that second film of Aadi isn’t declared till now. Wish that Aadi makes his father Sai Kumar feel proud in future too.

Titanic design sells for £220k

A 33-foot, hand-drawn plan of the Titanic reportedly used in the inquiry into the sinking of the massive ship in 1912 has sold for 220,000 pounds.

The cross-section was bought by a private collector, The Sun reported.

The plan, prepared by White Star Line architects was estimated to fetch between 100,000 and 150,000 pounds.

The plan was commissioned by the British Board of Trade to assist in the 36-day inquiry, held after the disaster.

It was used by witnesses and experts to establish the cause of the tragedy, and even contains original chalk marks describing what happened.

The drawing was reportedly hung in the official hearing room so that witnesses could refer to it constantly.

After the inquiry concluded that the disaster was brought about by the ship’s ‘excessive speed’, the plan was returned to White Star.

The auctioneer said it had not been put on public display ever.

Andrew Aldridge, of Henry Aldridge & Son, said: "The plan is one of the most important pieces of Titanic memorabilia ever sold and this price reflects it."(IANS)

India’s Sania Mirza and Russia’s Elena Vesnina shocked top seeds Gisela Dulko of Argentina and Flavia Pennetta of Italy to enter the women’s doubles semifinals of the French Open tennis on Monday.

Seventh-seeded Sania and Elena won 6-0, 7-5 in 66 minutes.

Tapsee happy with Veera flop

Beautiful combination of Kajal Agarwal and tapsee well supplemented the final result of ‘Mr. Perfect’ which is declared a hit of the season. Kajal leaded from front to make the screen stay peasant in first half and tapsee maintained her glamorous presence in second half thus making audience rate their blend termed as ‘Lucky.’ Now, producer Ganesh Indukuri of ‘Veera’ expected the same to happen for his film but with inter changed portions of heroines. That is expected and even the final result is inter changed making ‘Veera’ as one of the big failures in this year.

While tapsee made all the hard work for both the films adding extra dates, it is sure that Kajal ran away with slight extra mileage and credentials. Any upcoming heroine doesn’t like this to happen. Pardes actress Mahima Chaudhry will be seen in the Wilfred Lobo directed Mumbai The Gangsters, based on a real life fake encounter, opposite Om Puri.

Asked about the reason behind a two year gap in her acting career, the former veejay said, "I always seek roles of substance and challenging ones. I also prefer good, entertaining films."

The actress has starred in films like Dhadkan, Dil Kya Kare and Dobara. Her last release was Gumnaam – The Mystery.

Kiran gets snub from Chittoor Congress MLAs

TIRUPATI: None of the Congress MLAs from the district, who were expected to meet chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during his visit to Tirumala on Sunday, cared to turn up at the Padmavati Guest House where Reddy was staying.

Only MP, two former MLAs and a few lower-rung leaders called on Reddy.

Gangadhar Nellore MLA Gummadi Kuthuhalamma could not make it as she is indisposed and has been admitted to a hospital in Chennai. Reddy’s betenoir and Punganoor MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Putalapattu MLA Ravi stayed away.. Minister for mines G Aruna Kumari met Reddy at his ancestral home in Kalikiri but did not participate in any of his programmes.

The chief minister said he had telephonic conversation with Kuthuhalamma and enquired about her health On the first day of his visit, Madanapalle MLA Shajahan Basha and Chittoor MLA CK Babu had met Reddy for a brief period to discuss development of their constituencies.

Yet, sources said Kiran Kumar’s relations with fellow party leaders in the district were better this time than in the past.(ENS)

Rajnikanth in ICU at Singapore!

South India Super star Rajnikanth, who’s 61, left for Singapore with his family on 27th of May for further treatments. Now the latest news is that Rajinikanth’ health is now much better after being taking treatment in who was in ICU of Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre in Singapore.

Rajinikanth has been hospitalized thrice in a month with a kidney ailment and respiratory infection and if sources are to be believed the actor’s illness is on kidney dialysis since one of his kidneys are not responding well.

Dhanush, the son-in-law of Super star Rajni has confirmed in his statement to media that Rajni is now in a much better condition.

Before leaving to Singapore, Rajinikanth has left a voice recording to his fans stating “I am happily going for my routine health checkup and will return soon. How can I reciprocate the love you have shown for me? I am getting money for acting, and for that you all are showering so much of love to me. How will I pay back you all? I will never let down all my fans throughout the world. I have the blessings of the Almighty, Guru and of all my fans that are the manifestation of God.”

Tollywood hearthrob Prince Mahesh Babu ’s much awaited upcoming film "Dookudu" shooting is presently progressing in Hyderabad. The movie shooting will continue in Hyderabad till June 20th without any break.As per the sources movie makers are planning to release the movie first look posters and trailer on tomorrow (May 31) on the eve of Mahesh’s father Krishna’s Birthday.

Did Salman fight with his ‘Ready’ director?

It seems Salman Khan wants ’Ready’ to rock to his own rhythm and has taken charge of the destiny of the film’s release. Director Anees Bazmee has been sportingly justifying all his impositions as friendly collaboration, but apparently a difference of opinion recently came up between the two.

"It was for a chase sequence. Salman wanted it edited in a particular way. But Anees thought it was fine the way it was. The two of them had a heated argument over the issue," said a source.

Anees said: "It was a pre-climactic chase sequence. Salman’s character pursues the baddies in an auto-rickshaw. I wanted it shorter, no more than three minutes of playing-time. Salman wanted it to go on a little longer because he thought the kids would enjoy it. So we extended it to four minutes. That’s it."

"There has been no major argument as such. I’ve shown the edited portions to Salman as I’ve done to all my heroes in other films. What’s wrong with that? Yes, I did change the chase sequence on his suggestion because it made sense to do so," he added.

’Ready’ releases June 3 in India and June 1 in the UAE. Salman will be seen with Asin Thottumkal, Arya Babbar, Mahesh Manjrekar and Paresh Rawal in the movie about a rich heir who wants to enjoy life before getting married.(IANS)

Naga Chaitanya, Kajal’s film titled "Dhada"!

As per the sources Akkineni Hero Naga Chaitanya, Kajal Agarwal starrer film new film under the direction of new debutant Ajay Bhuyan has been titled as "Dhada". The movie shooting is presently progressing in Hyderabad. Recently the movie has completed its shooting schedules in Bangkok, Thailand and Philippines. The movie is yet to complete a schedule in Europe, with this shooting the movie comes to almost end of its shooting part.

The film is said to be an action-based entertainer with loads of comedy. Naga Chaitanya will be seen in an action oriented role in the film unlike his earlier lover boy roles.

Jr NTR with KV Anand!

Ileana with Raviteja in Nippu!

Crazy hero Raviteja’s new project titled "Nippu" under the direction of Guna Sekhar was launched recently in Hyderabad. Earlier Deeksha Seth has roped to play the female lead role opposite Raviteja in this flick. Now the latest news is that Ileana is going to pair with Raviteja again for Nippu, but this flick also have Deeksha seth as second heroine.

Sonakshi Sinha’s endorsement cup is truly running over – it’s just been announced that the ’Dabangg’ girl is the new face of the D’Damas diamond jewellery brand. Sonakshi has taken over from Preity Zinta.

Former California Governor and action star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who split from wife Maria Shriver after 25 years, following revelations of a secret love child, is reportedly begging her to give him another chance.

The 63-year-old, who fathered a now 13-year-old boy with the family’s former housekeeper Mildred ’Patty’ Baena, is desperate for "one more chance", reported Contactmusic.

"He’s actually shed tears. He knows he’s done wrong, and he’s begging on his knees for forgiveness and one last chance. Arnold has been making calls to Maria repeatedly, asking her for one more chance," claimed Ian Halperin, who wrote an unauthorised biography of the actor.

Shriver who has four children with Arnold, Katherine, 21, Christina, 19, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13 was earlier seen this week with Bono, lead singer of rock band U2, who is helping her through the split.

Warrant against Sanjay Dutt

A local court here today issued non-bailable warrant against actor Sanjay Dutt for not appearing before it in connection with a violation of model code of conduct case lodged during last Lok Sabha elections.

Judicial Magistrate Krishna Kumar issued the warrant against Dutt after he failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons and a bailable warrant, prosecution officials said here.

A case was lodged against Dutt, who was then national general secretary of Samajwadi Party, in April 2009 for making some controversial remarks while campaigning in favour of the party candidate Arshad Jamal.

Despite repeated summons when the actor did not appeared before the court a bailable warrant was issued on March 26 this year, they said.

The court also issued summon against SP candidate and co-accused in the case Jamal and directed Superintendent of Police and DIG of Azamgarh to serve the same through city inspector.

The court said if report on serving summon was not submitted on the next date of hearing on July 8 action would be taken against the inspector.(Agencies)

Succession war on between Naidu, NTR families

The succession war between the families of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N.T. Rama Rao, or NTR, and his son-in-law and party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu came out in the open on Saturday at the annual conclave of the party here.

Angry over Naidu’s attempts to project his son N. Lokesh as his successor, N.T. Rama Rao’s son Nandamuri Harikrishna refused to address the conclave and left the venue in a huff.

Harikrishna’s son and popular actor junior NTR, who had campaigned for the TDP in 2009 elections, also stayed away from ’Mahanadu’ despite his presence in Hyderabad, triggering speculations of serious differences between the two families.

Harikrishna, the party politburo member who wants his son to take over the reins of the party, was seen having a heated argument with senior party leader Y. Ramakrishnudu.

The actor and filmmaker angrily gesticulated and rejected Ramakrishnudu’s request to address the conclave.

The former minister, who was seated on the dais at the inaugural session Friday, remained off the dais Saturday and later left the venue.

The reason for the immediate provocation was the manner in which Naidu is trying to project his son Lokesh.

He was believed to be unhappy over pictures of Lokesh dominating the venue.

A large number of flexiboards carrying pictures of Lokesh and his cut-outs were displayed all along the route to the venue at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The party ignored junior NTR, who like his grandfather has a huge fan following.

Harikrishna, who is also a member of Rajya Sabha, also did not like the way the pictures of Chandrababu Naidu were displayed at the photo exhibition.

He felt his late father was being ignored at the exhibition organised as part of every ’Mahanadu’.

The differences between the two families came out in the open on the 88th birth anniversary of NTR, the legendary actor who floated TDP in 1982.

In another indication of the growing chasm, Harikrishna separately paid tributes to NTR at NTR Ghat on his birth anniversary. His son Junior NTR was also present.

The bickering come close on the heels of a resolution passed by TDP’s unit in Chandragiri in Naidu’s home district of Chittoor, urging the leadership to name Lokesh as the party incharge for the assembly constituency.

Harikrishna had recently created a flutter by stating in his open letter to people that he would launch a movement against corruption.

He remarked that those who did not even have a small piece of land earned thousands of crores of rupees after joining politics. This was being seen as an indirect attack on Naidu.

However, Harikrishna’s younger brother and actor Balakrishna was present at ’Mahanadu’ Saturday. He also showered praise on Naidu. Naidu’s son Lokesh is the son-in-law of Balakrishna.

Harikrishna, the eldest son of NTR, had backed Naidu in his revolt against his father in 1994.

Naidu made him a cabinet minister but following the differences he distanced himself from the party. He returned to the party-fold before the 2009 elections.

Unhappy with the growing interference of NTR’s second wife Lakshmi Parvathi in party and government affairs, Naidu had dethroned NTR in August 1995.

The TDP founder, who called his son-in-law a ’back stabber’, died of cardiac arrest in January 1996.

Though NTR’s sons remained with Naidu, his daughter D. Purandareswari and her husband D. Venkateswara Rao surprised all by joining the Congress party before the 2004 elections.

Purandareswari has been a junior minister at the centre since 2004 while her husband is a state legislator.

The couple had been targeting Naidu for ’back stabbing’ NTR.(IANS)

Facebook CEO eats what he kills!

SAN FRANCISCO: Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly taken to eating only meat from animals he has killed in order to appreciate that a creature died so that he could live.

The 27-year-old billionaire took on the dietary regimen as the latest in a series of "personal challenges" that he pursues in what little time he spends not working on Facebook, a Fortune magazine story explained on Thursday.

"I’m eating a lot healthier foods," Zuckerberg is quoted as telling Fortune while discussing his switch to slaughtering livestock for his meals.

"And I’ve learned a lot about sustainable farming and raising of animals," he continued. "It’s easy to take the food we eat for granted when we can eat good things every day."

A Silicon Valley chef who lives not far from Zuckerberg in the Northern California city of Palo Alto has introduced him to local farmers and coached him on killing his first chicken, pig, and goat, according to Fortune.

His first kill was a lobster, which he executed by boiling.

Larger animals that he kills are sent to a butcher, who sends the cut meat back to Zuckerberg and his girlfriend Priscilla to be cooked as they wish, the article indicated.

Zuckerberg has shared his dietary endeavor on his Facebook page, where he posted a photo of a chicken he killed and dishes he made using the parts.

"This year I’ve basically become a vegetarian since the only meat I’m eating is from animals I’ve killed myself," Fortune quoted Zuckerberg as saying in an email.

"I think many people forget that a living being has to die for you to eat meat, so my goal revolves around not letting myself forget that and being thankful for what I have."

Zuckerberg said he takes on a personal challenge each year, with prior goals including learning Chinese and wearing a tie.

"So far, this has been a good experience," Zuckerberg said of his new diet.

"I’m eating a lot healthier foods and I’ve learned a lot about sustainable farming and raising of animals."

Summons To Robot producer and Director!

A local court in Chennai has issued summons to the director and the producer of Rajinikanth-starrer Endhiran (Robot in Telugu) on a complaint alleging that the duo committed offences under the Copyright Act.

The court asked the duo to appear before it on June 24.

Tamil writer Aarur Tamilnadan filed the complaint before the Metropolitan Magistrate of Egmore seeking a direction to punish them under the Copyright Act and for cheating.

Tamilnadan said that he wrote a short story Jugiba which was published in a Tamil monthly magazine Iniya Udayam in April 1996.

He claimed that Endhiran was nothing but his story and its director S Shankar and producer Kalanithi Maran, managing director of Sun Pictures Private Ltd, had violated the copyright act by using his story.

Tamilnadan said though he submitted a complaint to police, it was treated as closed. The police did not give anything in writing, he charged.

Because of the "influential background" of the director and producer, police were reluctant to register a case, he alleged.(PTI)

Priyanka goes retro with Shahid!

It seems that Priyanka Chopra is set to create an old world charm with her looks in Kunal Kohli’s yet-untitled next movie. A picture of Prinks on the sets of the film in Mumbai shows her in a pink fish cut lehenga, a short blouse and Mumtaz-style draped dupatta. She also sports the classic bouffant hairdo, complete with white flowers, a style often seen in the movies of 1970s.

If the grapevine is to be believed, Priyanka and Shahid Kapoor play four sets of characters each in the romantic film, the story of which spans four cities.

Priyanka is, of course, a pro at playing multiple roles, and having different looks in a single film. First she played 12 different roles in ’What’s Your Rashee?’ and then she was seen in seven looks in Vishal Bharadwaj’s ’7 Khoon Maaf’.

TDP to move no-trust motion in next session!

The Telugu Desam’s three-day annual conclave Mahanadu, which began here on Friday, sent out a loud warning to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government as well as YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while being more vocal on the Telangana issue without abandoning its two-eye philosophy.

Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, in his inaugural address which lasted nearly one and a half hours, said that his party would move a no-confidence motion against the state government and that it was not dragging its feet as claimed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“We are not hesitating to move the no-confidence motion. We had moved no-confidence motions in the past. From the beginning our stand has been very clear, “ he said in an oblique reference to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s allegation that he was not moving a no-confidence motion only to protect the Kiran Kumar Reddy government.

Later, party leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, on the sidelines of the conclave, made it clear that the party would move the motion on the issue of farmers’ problems during the next session of the Assembly.

Trying to take the sting out of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s professions that the state government was at his mercy, Naidu said, “Why don’t you pull down the government if you have so much strength. Go to the governor and parade the MLAs who are backing you,” he challenged him.

For the first time, the Mahanadu adopted a resolution paying rich tributes to martyrs of both Telangana and Andhra movements. In a bold step Naidu wanted a wide debate on the T-issue.

“The Mahanadu should discuss the T-issue. We have to provide clarity to people on what TDP is doing on the matter,” Naidu said.

The TDP had sent its letter to the Pranab Mukherjee Committee and made its stand clear.

The Congress incorporated Telangana in its common minimum programme, the President made a statement, the Centre constituted the Srikrishna Committee and took the opinions of the people and political parties.

It was now for the Centre to take a decision on the separate state issue, Naidu said.

“People of both the regions supported me all these years. You tell me how I can take sides,” Naidu asked.(ENS)

New engaged couple Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries have flown down to Monaco recently for a planned family vacation with the family of the basketball star.

Film On Bin Laden, Set For 2012 Release

Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal’s movie about the Black Ops hunt for Osama Bin Laden is set for release next year.

Columbia Pictures, which acquired the domestic distribution rights to the film earlier this week, says the untitled movie will come out at the end of 2012.

Bigelow and Boal each won a pair of Oscars for producing, directing and writing last year’s best picture, "The Hurt Locker." The two began developing the film about the Black Ops’ mission to capture Bin Laden in 2008.

Co-Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Amy Pascal says Bigelow and Boal "have an outstanding perspective on the team that was hunting the most wanted man in the world."(AP)

We have earlier reported that Actor Mohanbabu’s daughter Lakshmi Manchu is busy with the pre productions works of her upcoming film titled "Gundello Godari". She is acting in this movie as well as producing it. The movie is said to be a period film set in 1980’s. She will play a role of village girl in this flick.

Now the latest news is that comedy hero Allari Naresh is going to play an important role in this film. As per the reports Lakshmi was narrated the role to Naresh and he agreed to do that role once he listened the script. Presently lakshmi Prasanna is busy with the finalizing the cast and crew for this film.

The film will be directed by a new comer Kumar. Music director Ilayaraja is scoring the music for this film. Laksmi Prasanna is producing this flick under Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures banner. Earlier she produced the film ‘Jhummandi Naadham’ , which was her first venture and it is her second venture as a producer.

Varun’s "Brammigadi Kadha" coming in June!

Hero Varun Sandesh starrer new film titled "Brammigadi Kadha" has completed almost of its shooting part except a song. Poonam kaur and Asmita Sood are playing the female lead roles in the film.

Javed Injured On Double Dhamaal set!

Actor Javed Jaffrey suffered an injured leg while shooting the final scene of his forthcoming laugh riot Double Dhamaal — as a result, director Indra Kumar had to alter the scene.

Javed, who also featured in Dhamaal – the prequel to the movie, was shooting at Mehboob Studios when he broke his leg and had to be admitted to a hospital.

"The film was on its last leg. Javed jumped on the bed very hard and his knee and the ligament below the knee cap tore very badly.

"We immediately took him to Lilavati Hospital as we were in Mehboob Studio… the doctors examined him after X-Rays were taken. Luckily, it wasn’t a major injury but he was in immense pain, to say the least," producer Ashok Thackeria said in a press statement.

Still, the crew shot the scene, albeit with certain changes. "Despite the pain, Javed insisted we finish the shoot and hence we changed the scene with the four boys together on the bed. Javed was brought with a leg support and crutches to the shooting floor, and we wrapped up the shoot and celebrated later with Jaaved and the entire team," said Thackeria.

"Double Dhamaal" also features Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Aashish Chaudhary, Kangana Ranaut and Mallika Sherawat. It releases June 24, and will have its world premiere at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend and awards in Toronto next month.(IANS)

Gambhir, Yuvraj out; Tendulkar rested for Windies tour

CHENNAI: Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh were left out of India’s entire tour of the West Indies as the national selectors announced the 16-member squad for the Test series next month.

Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund was the lone new face in the squad announced by the BCCI Secretary N Srinivasan after a marathon meeting of the selection committee here.

The young Suresh Raina was named captain of the ODI series after original choice Gambhir was ruled out for the entire tour because of a shoulder injury. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh would be Raina’s deputy.

Yuvraj was also unavailable for the entire trip as he is suffering from an upper respiratory infection with a small patch of pneumonitis in the left lung.

"Gautam Gambhir will be unavailable for the full tour of the West Indies, on account of his shoulder injury. Yuvraj Singh will also be unavailable for the full tour. He is suffering from an upper respiratory infection, with a small patch of pneumonitis in the left lung," the BCCI said in a statement.

Tendulkar, who was not part of the ODI team, requested that he be allowed to spend time with his family.

"He will therefore not play the Test series. However, he will be available for the full tour of England, that follows," the BCCI said.

Shikhar Dhawan and Manoj Tiwary have been named as the replacements for Gambhir and Yuvraj, for the Twenty20 and ODI series starting June 4.

Babu says Centre should take a call on Telangana

With both he and his party coming under fire on the Telangana issue, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu today demanded that the Centre immediately take a decision on the contentious statehood demand, now that all political parties and other stakeholders have clearly spelt out their views.

“The Government of India is unable to take a decision on the Telangana issue. The Congress should take responsibility for this because it has pushed Andhra Pradesh into a state of instability through its indecisiveness. The Congress is playing havoc with the lives of Telugu people,” Mr. Chandrababu lashed out in his inaugural address at the TDP’s annual conclave ‘Mahanadu’ at Gandipet in Hyderabad.

He alleged that the Congress was politicising the Telangana issue now after having made several claims in the past.

“The Congress can’t change history. It was the one which came out with a statement on Telangana on December 9, 2009 and later went back and kept its decision in abeyance since there is division in political parties. Now, all the parties have expressed their views to the Srikrishna Committee and it is for the Centre to take a decision on Telangana,” Mr. Chandrababu asserted.

Trying to ward off criticism against him on the statehood issue, Mr. Chandrababu observed: “As party president it is my responsibility to protect TDP in both the regions of the State. I can’t speak in favour of any particular region. But I am deeply pained at what’s happening in the State.”

Maintaining that Telangana statehood was a “sensitive issue” in which “sentiments” were involved, he said everyone should give think prudently on it.

Coming down heavily on the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, the TDP chief said the separatist party’s merger with the Congress was imminent.

“Why is the TRS not questioning Sonia Gandhi on the statehood issue? Instead of taking on the Congress for remaining indifferent, the TRS is trying to target the TDP.

The TRS is talking of burying the TDP in Telangana but no force can do it as the people are with us,” Mr. Chandrababu asserted. (PTI)

Salman Khan turns writer

After being an actor and a painter, superstar Salman Khan seems to have embarked on a new career as a writer. The actor has written the introduction to the trailer of his forthcoming co-production ‘Chillar Party’.

The team of ‘Chillar Party’ wanted to take Salman through the theatrical trailer. When he saw the trailer, he liked it but felt that it lacked interesting punch.

He impromptu penned down the script for a voiceover introducing the characters in the film and recorded it in his own voice.

‘Chillar Party’ is the story about a gang of innocent yet feisty kids from Chandan Nagar – Encyclopedia, Jhanghia, Akram, Secondhand, Panauti, Silencer, Aflatoon and Shaolin.

Their lives turn around when two strangers Fatka and Bheedu enter their world.

Vykuntapali Movie Review

Behind the Movie Vykuntapali: Except the interesting title, there is nothing to pull the audience to theatres. With a star cast of Ajay, Krishnudu and Randhir, this flick arrived today in the direction of debutant Anil Gopi Reddy. Let us see, whether watching this movie is like climbing a ladder or felling into the mouth of a snake?

In the Movie Vykuntapali: Chandu (Krishnudu), Michael (Randhir) and Kranti (Krishnudu) are close friends with unlike attitudes. They have different goals to reach and dissimilar philosophies to achieve them. Chandu is a down to earth guy whose ambition is just to settle down in life and take care of his sick mother. Kranti wants to become a journalist and desires to cleanse the society from all social evils. Finally Michael is a selfish guy, cheater searching for shortcuts to success. They get separated in search of their goals and catches up after six years in similar situations.

Chandu almost reached the dream but urgently requires Rs.6 Lakhs for a surgery of his mother. Michael too needs Rs.6 Lakhs to fly Singapore while Kranti is on a killing spree clearing the anti social elements in society taking revenge against those who assassinated his ideal master Pruthvi (Rajeev Kanakala). He even had a love interest in Snigdha (Tashu Kaushik). 

To resolve their financial crisis, Chandu and Michael plan a bank robbery, complete it successfully. But this does not end their problem and indeed starts a new one which kills both of them. Then there is one strict police officer (Harshavardhan) on duty to solve the robbery case. Who killed both Chandu and Michael? How did money and time play a game with them, are core elements in the film.     

Values and Out of the film Vykuntapali: Necessity is the mother force that drives mankind and money is the only matter that could fulfill these necessities. This money makes a man to do many things. Even friendship doesn’t find any value before money in many cases. Everyone’s life is the same. This is core message which story, script writer and director Anil Gopi Reddy might have tried to offer. 

In difference what we get is a boring TV serial kind of narration that makes you peel the hair from head. No where in entire movie Anil was successful in offering his preaching. He simply cooked a dumb film that makes audience run away from theatres. No emotions, no perfect execution or for that matter a confused plot made ‘Vykuntapali’ more of snakes but no ladders for audience to feel relaxed.

Dialogues by Niwas were filled with intellectual value that can’t be understood by common audience like us. Cinematography by Jawahar Reddy was a good work while editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is slow, sluggish and confusing. Music by director Anil Gopi Reddy is again a disappointment. Production values are okay.

Performance wise Michael was better with his careless mannerisms while Krishnudu, Ajay are mere disappointment. Tashu Kaushik has done a meaty role. Rajeev Kanalaka was at his routine best while Satya Krishnan is horrible with out make up. Among others Posani Krishna Murali, Subba Raju, Tanikella Bharani and Harshavardhan were brief. 

There is no scope for these kinds of movies to propel for a commercial success. Even publicity cost may not be recovered. Concept wise although we find few shades of Krish ‘Vedam’ in this ‘Vykuntapali,’ yet there is no match between the two. All in all, this film is a big dud which can’t be advised for normal audience. Suggestion is that directors like Anil Gopi Reddy should work more on execution but not conceptualization.

Big B to sing ‘A Capella’

After singing songs like ‘Rang barse’ and ‘Main yahaan tu wahaan’, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has tried singing the title track of his forthcoming home production ‘Bbuddah-Hoga Terra Baap’ a Capella, he has added vocal beats to create the sound of instruments.

Music director duo Vishal-Shekhar attempted to compose for the first time a number in ’a Capella’ style, which means solo or a group singing without any instrumental sound.

"We wanted to try something new with this song. We did the basic setup and then Mr. Bachchan replaced every track with his voice. He recreated the sounds of approximately 10 to 12 instruments, from drum to bass to the snare to the chorus. In a nutshell, he did everything required to make a song!" Shekhar Ravijani said in a press statement.

When the duo approached Amitabh with the suggestion, the 63-year-old was apprehensive about it, but finally decided to go ahead.

Amitabh shared his experience on his blog bigb.bigadda.com a few days ago.

"So Shekhar, of Vishal and Shekhar, have composed something that caused each one that heard it, the goose phenomena. And now that it is done, comes the improbable part. They want me to sing it! And this is where things shall go horribly wrong.

"I am trying to resist this compulsion from them and find myself losing at the moment, but I know for sure that I will remain in that state and lose. May god help all the music purists in bearing up with me and for overlooking this great farce that is about to take place over the weekend," he had posted.

Produced by Viacom18 and AB Corp, ‘Bbuddah-Hoga Terra Baap’, releasing July 1, is written and directed by Puri Jagannath. It also features Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Sonu Sood, Sonal Chauhan, and southern actors Charmi and Prakash Raj.

Next PCC chief to be from Andhra

HYDERABAD: The next president of Pradesh Congress Committee will be from the Andhra region.

The Congress high command has come to a decision on this and is examining who, between two front runners housing minister Kanna Lakshminarayana and transport minister Botsa Satyanaryana, fits the bill better. Both belong to the Kapu community which is numerically strong in coastal districts.

The announcement on appointment of the new PCC chief is likely to be made in the next four to five days, according to sources.

Now that the decision has been taken to appoint someone from Andhra as PCC president, the deputy chief minister’s post will go to a leader from Telangana. Already, higher education minister Damodar Rajanarasimha is considered to be the party’s hot favourite for the post.

Though chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reportedly wanted the PCC president to be from Telangana, the central leadership appears to have the interests of the party in coastal Andhra uppermost in its mind in the wake of the humiliating defeat YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had inflicted on the Congress in the by-elections and his efforts to emerge as a major threat to the Congress in Andhra and Rayalaseema.

AICC general secretary and AP Congress affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad is understood to have discussed with party president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday the appointment of PCC chief, deputy chief minister and Assembly speaker, and finalisation of dates for effecting a formal merger of the PRP with the Congress. Congress leaders will discuss the matter with PRP’s C Ramachandraiah who has been asked to rush to Delhi.

Meanwhile, Telangana MPs, who appeared to have been rattled by the violence in Karimnagar on Wednesday, are veering to the conclusion that they should do something dramatic or they will be forced to go into political exile.

They are planning to go on an indefinite hunger strike after June 15. If the party does not respond positively even then, they will resign as a last resort.(ENS)

Leopard at Hema Malini’s House!

Hema Malini had a strange fan early on Friday when a leopard strayed into her bungalow in Dindoshi area of northwest Mumbai, creating panic among the local residents, an official said.

The leopard, believed to have come from the adjoining Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) area, was spotted by a security guard in the premises on early Friday.

The Bollywood actress was not at home at the time of the incident.

The locals immediately alerted the SGNP authorities who sent a team equipped with tranquilisers and a cage to trap the large wild cat, the official said.

"We have dispatched a team of forest officials to the site and they are making arrangements to catch the leopard. We hope to capture it soon," S. A. Thorat, SGNP Chief Conservator of Forests told the media.

The SGNP, spread over around 100 square kms in northwest Mumbai, has over five dozen leopards and many other wild animals living in its thick forests.

Leopards often stray into the sprawling housing complexes, the Film City, the Aarey Milk Colony, Dahisar, Borivli, Kandivli, Malad, Goregaon and other western suburbs and Mulund and Bhandup on the eastern side.

There have been many instances of leopards getting killed while chasing prey by speeding vehicles on the Western Express and Eastern Express highways.(IANS)

Rajini to be rejuvenated in Singapore

Popular film actor rajinikanth will leave for Singapore on Friday night to avail better health care and rejuvenate himself, according to his family.

According to reports reaching here, his wife Latha appealed to the media not to sensationalise his illness and stated that all his vital organs were normal.

Ms Latha said that one of the primary factors behind the actor’s Singapore sojourn would be to get some privacy, apart from rejuvenation and better health care. She emphasised that the trip to Singapore was not to undermine the skills of the Indian doctors who had been treating the actor.  

The 61-year-old actor had been admitted at the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai since the past four weeks for respiratory infection.

The actor had earlier been shifted to a private room inside the hospital from the ICU. His stint in the ICU had sent his fans in a tizzy.

His daughter Aishwarya pointed out that he would be travelling like any normal passenger does, since his vital organs are stable.

Earlier, the actor was admitted to the Isabel Hospital on April 29 and discharged the same day. He, however was readmitted on May 4 after bronchitis and viral fever. He was later admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre for respiratory infection and other problems.

Rajnikanth off to Singapore for better treatment!

Super star Rajnikanth, who is undergoing the treatment presently at Ram Chandra Hospital in Chennai, will be flying to Singapore tonight for better treatment. He is going by Singapore Airlines with his family members; his wife Latha and daughter Aishwarya are accompanying him.

As per the sources Rajinikanth has been booked as a ‘wheelchair passenger’ on a Singapore Airlines flight and is travelling in his passport name Shivaji Rao. Arrangements are being made to transport the 61-year-old actor discreetly to the Chennai International airport on Friday. The family is trying to get permission for Rajini’s ambulance to be driven right up to the tarmac, the source added.  

Rajinikanth was first admitted to Isabel Hospital in Chennai after he suffered from exhaustion on April 29, the first day of the shoot of his new project ’Rana,’ and he was discharged on the same day. But later he readmitted there on May 4 for allergic bronchitis and high fever.

Recently Rajni was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre on May 13th with complaints of respiratory infection and other problems.

Tapsee upset with Veera and Director

Sharing the screen space between two heroines is always a risky one for either of them. Screen time and length of the role of each heroine will obviously come under microscope. Same is happening with ‘Veera’ and heroine tapsee is upset with director Ramesh Varma who butchered her role mercilessly.

In fact tapsee is known to have said the close sources that she was shocked when watched her shortened role on screen. Ramesh Varma is the man who has altered it to his convenience, citing length problems. While tapsee worked extensively for 40 odd days of shooting, Kajal just had 20 days. Final output on the screen is a complete reversal. It is simple tapsee is confined to glam quotient while Kajal walked away with acting honors as ‘Kabaddi Chitti.’

TDP suspends Nagam Janardhan Reddy!

The rebel Telugu Desam Nagarkurnool MLA and politburo member, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, was suspended from the party late on Wednesday night. The TD president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, called an emergency meeting of the politburo and available senior leaders and decided to axe Dr Janardhan Reddy for his anti-party activities.

Dr Reddy’s suspension was announced just two hours after the successful ‘Telangana Ranabheri’ public meeting at Karimnagar and two days ahead of the party’s Mahanadu. The Telangana Telugu Desam Forum had recommended his suspension on Monday. “The party has decided to suspend Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy for causing damage to the party and also for his caustic comments against the party president, MLAs, leaders and the party office,” the resolution stated. The senior party leader and general secretary, Mr P. Chandrasekhar Rao, made the announcement after the brief meeting at Mr Naidu’s Jubilee Hills residence. No time frame was announced for the suspension.

The politburo also condemned the attack on Telugu Desam leaders on their way to Karimnagar for the “Telangana Rangabheri” on Wednesday and also the attacks on the houses of Mr E. Dayakar Rao and Mr Revanth Reddy in Warangal and in Hyderabad. With the suspension, Dr Janardhan Reddy’s chequered career spanning three decades in TD came to an end on Wednesday night. Even as the TD politburo was discussing the suspension issue, Dr Janardhan Reddy started to chalk out his next course of action.(DC)

Ileana Back to Shooting!

Actress Ileana, who was hospitalized for a week recently due to exhaustion, is back to the shooting now. Ileana’s health is doing well now and back to the shooting of her current Tamil project "Nanban", which is a remake of Bollywood’s hit film 3 Idiots.
